Hello people friends I found an entry that I typed to post here, I must have forgotten about it. Well here it goes 04 December 2006 I’m now on holidays. Thus they are fine, but I have not gotten the rest that I need. Since I finished writing I’ve been busy. As I told you, this past Saturday was my cousin’s wedding. I was one of the bride’s maids together with my sister and three other cousins. I now see how weddings can get so expensive. I now have this long artificial nails and they are so uncomfortable. All in all it was a great day, Now let me take my memory back a month or so. In October I ran the Spar Women’s 10km challenge, but I did the 5km fun run/walk. I was a great event, dedicated to cancer awareness and research. I managed to finish about 5 minutes earlier than expected, that is 5km is 47minutes. I’ve tried running since then and it has been tough to keep up during the exam times and in the preparation for the wedding. I now have time and I’ll resume this week. I wrote a letter, about my experience at the Spar challenge, to Runner’s World South Africa magazine and it was published in the December issue, I was hopping to win a digital watch. I’m happy than it got published. Here how it goes and the editor’s comment: Childlike Spirit A few weeks ago I participated in the Spar women’s 10k challenge, I only did 5km. I realized the where quite a number of kids. Started the race right in the center of the crowd, but soon broke out. As I was running, I saw the kids again, they where actually running the 5km race. I’ve never seen such little kids run such a long distance (for their age of about 8 or 9). When in High School we did 5km at the age of 16 and kids that young did something like 2 or 3 km. The little ones where running so care freely in a group, they chit chat every now and then, it reminded me of my childhood years. They ran like they where playing, and what amazed me was that they finished the race a few seconds before me, a 21year old runner. I was disappointed to finish just behind them, but was also encouraged. I learned from that that I should not take running too seriously, I learned to embrace the childlike spirit in me even in my run. Then I would enjoy running all the lot more, like those kids on the 5km race. About two weeks after the race, we had a dinner party at our res. house. It was a good dinner and the experience brought me close to some of the house mates. Now one of my house mates is in USA working at a ski resort, I wish I where there too. I have exiting news. I have passed all my exams and I’ll be graduating in March. I’m so thankful to the Lord that He was right with me through it all. Till last week, I had not been home in 3 months because I had to study. God’s favor was upon me. I had done a full 3rd year level and completed everything without a supplementary exam or a fail. Praise God. Now I’m praying to get into an honors program to have a full degree. For those who don’t know, here in SA our Bachelor’s degree are 3 years long then there is another year of honors for those who want to have a full qualification. That’s all for now, God bless you and may his hand and favor be upon you, Till later Karabo |
